Description |
"Little Lamb" by Gertrude Katherine Lathrop (1896-1986) A newborn lamb is standing with its head lowered and ears down, presenting an engaging portrait of vulnerability and gentleness. Gertrude Lathrop wrote, 'The subject of my model was a cosset lamb that my sister brought home on her lap. My sister's book, "Bouncing Betty", also used this lamb as a subject. Our animals usually posed for both of us and in this case did triple duty as my mother, who was a painter, painted her picture standing in a flower bed.' |
