One of a series of 33 sketches by Donald DeLue submitted to Brookgreen for consideration for use on the 1978-79 Brookgreen Gardens Medal: The Sculptor and His Work, bronze, Donald H. De Lue (1897-1988). There were 36 sketches originally; three have been sold over the years in Brookgreen fundraising auctions. Pencil on paper, framed. Horizontal format. Winged muse figure with winged horse in left hand and laurel wreath in right hand leans over sitting artist holding a tablet and stylus. Text: Brookgreen Gardens South Carolina at lower center. Shaded background. |
