One of a series of 33 sketches by Donald DeLue submitted to Brookgreen for consideration for use on the 1978-79 Brookgreen Gardens Medal: The Sculptor and His Work, bronze, Donald H. De Lue (1897-1988). There were 36 sketches originally; three have been sold over the years in Brookgreen fundraising auctions. Pencil on paper, framed. Vertical format. Bearded sculptor with apron and collared shirt stands in center, working on a squatting female nude with back to viewer. Male nude sculpture on stand to left. Female nude sculpture on stand to right. Two winged figures and sun behind sculptor. |
