One of a series of 33 sketches by Donald DeLue submitted to Brookgreen for consideration for use on the 1978-79 Brookgreen Gardens Medal: The Sculptor and His Work, bronze, Donald H. De Lue (1897-1988). There were 36 sketches originally; three have been sold over the years in Brookgreen fundraising auctions. Pencil on paper, framed. Vertical format. Bearded sculptor with apron and shirt stands in center, legs spread, working on a male nude with bent arms and positioned toward the viewer set on a two-legged surface. Behind the sculptor a winged horse fills the rest of the frame. |
